With voile layered on the back of the stenciled top, I choose a color of thread that can be easily seen. I outline all that is to be stuffed. After the top is all finished the colored thread is removed as you complete the final quilting.
How exciting to be putting in the begining stitches. Do you have to baste the voile under the whole top for this one and what is the fabric you're using for the front? I'm very eager to learn more as you can probably tell so I'll be watching closely.
I'm using kona cotton in 108" width. To big but better than to small! I will baste the ouline stitches on the entire top. You could do some and stuff as you go. That's an option.
Does your pattern have directions for doing trapunto? I love whole cloth quilts and have done a couple small ones, but I really want to try some stuffed work. How do I purchase a copy of the pattern? Thanks, Sue in Mi http://suesjourneys.blogspot.com/
It looks lovely already Donna - you've made a lot of progress ! I have never done a trapunto. I was thinking of adapting this one to the boutis.
ReplyDeleteYou can do that. I don't have the quilting lines drawn on yet but they are 1/4" you should be able to use those as your lines for boutis.
